BRADENTON, Fla. — Trailing by one run in the bottom of the eleventh inning Thursday night, the Marauders got a walkoff, two-run, inside-the-park home run from Brenden Dixon for a 3-2 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays at LECOM Park.

With Rodolfo Nolasco on second base as the extra-inning baserunner for the Marauders (11-7), Dixon lifted a fly ball to deep left-center. Blue Jays (6-12) center fielder Dasan Brown made a sliding attempt near the wall, but was unable to catch the ball. As the ball rolled loose, Nolasco scored the tying run, and Dixon beat a bounced relay throw to the plate, handing the Marauders their third straight win and their second walkoff victory of the season.

The two teams’ starting pitchers battled with strong performances to being the evening. Marauders right-hander Valentin Linarez held the Jays scoreless across four and two-thirds innings but was removed after allowing a solo homer to Brown in the fifth, giving Dunedin a 1-0 lead. Blue Jays right-hander Yosver Zulueta stymied Bradenton across four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.

The Marauders quickly tied the score, 1-1, in the bottom of the fifth, as Geovanny Planchart drew a leadoff walk from Kendry Rojas and later scored on a double to right field by Tsung-Che Cheng.

Rojas recovered to hold the Marauders scoreless into the ninth inning, while Cristian Charle provided three and one-third innings of scoreless relief for Bradenton, allowing just one hit. The pitching duel continued, as neither team was able to score again after nine innings.

The Blue Jays’ top of the tenth saw extra-inning runner Amell Brazoban advance to third on a two-out infield single by Brown, but Wilkin Ramos, who had held Dunedin scoreless in the ninth, escaped the jam with a groundout.

Bradenton missed a game-winning chance in the bottom of the tenth, when extra-inning runner Luke Brown took third on a groundout, and intentional walks to Cheng and Jacob Gonzalez loaded the bases with one out. A Jase Bowen groundball to shortstop Adrian Pinto resulted in a force out at home, and Nolasco flied out to center to end the inning.

Yunior Thibo (2-0) pitched the top of the eleventh for the Marauders and allowed a go-ahead, one-out single to Rainer Nunez before retiring the side to set the stage for the Bradenton comeback in the home half.

Gonzalez went 0-for-4 in the game but extended his on-base streak to 16 games with his intentional walk in the tenth inning.

The series continues Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Justin Meis (2-1, 4.38 ERA) will start for the Marauders against LHP Ricky Tiedemann (2-0, 1.20 ERA) for Dunedin.
