EUGENE, OR – The AquaSox (35-37) scored four runs in the first inning on its way to a 10-6 victory over the Eugene Emeralds (42-28) on Friday night at PK Park. Victor Labrada led off the game with a walk and then Noelvi Marte hit the very next pitch over the left center field wall for his ninth home run of the season. James Parker came up five batters later and drove in Alberto Rodriguez and Justin Lavey for a 4-0 first inning lead.
The AquaSox added two more runs in the second inning with RBI singles from Rodriguez and Lavey that scored Cole Barr and Marte to extend the lead to 6-0. The Emeralds then got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on a Casey Schmitt solo home run, his 13th of the season.
Outfielder Trent Tingelstad was the next AquaSox to get in on the scoring action when he hit an RBI single up the middle in the fourth inning, scoring Rodriguez to make it a 7-1 game. The score would remain unchanged until the bottom of the seventh inning when Vaun Brown came in to score on a Schmitt ground out and the Sox lead 7-2 through seven innings.
Marte picked up two more RBI in the eighth inning when he singled into left field, scoring Ty Duvall and Barr. Marte then scored two batters later on a Lavey infield single to give the AquaSox their largest lead of the game 10-2.
The Emeralds tried to put together a comeback as Brown hit a three-run home run in the eighth, scoring Rodolfo Bone and Simon Whiteman, trimming the Sox lead to 10-5. Carter Aldrete would drive in one final run in the bottom of the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Schmitt to conclude the scoring as the AquaSox won 10-6.
Marte finished the game three-for-four with walk, home run, three runs scored and four RBI. In his last nine games Marte has a slash line of .364/.462/.667 with three home runs, 11 runs scored, 10 RBI and three stolen bases. The win moves the AquaSox into a four-way tie for first place in the second half season standings with a 4-3 record.

Game five of the six-game series is scheduled for Saturday July 2. RHP Jimmy Joyce (2-7, 6.45 ERA) will start for the AquaSox while RHP Wil Jensen (4-3, 2.92 ERA) will start for Eugene.
