About BlueClaws Baseball Academy

The BlueClaws Baseball Academy programs are designed to teach and coach players of all ages the proper way to practice and train for the upcoming season. These programs will be kept to a small number of players to allow us to personalize each session and each player will receive as much attention as possible. Our goal is to develop talent that will lead to better on-field performance. Teaching is at the forefront of every program we run.

Executive Director Joe Agnello

Prior to his work with MLB, he spent eight years coaching college baseball. As an assistant coach at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, Agnello worked with the hitters, infielders, and catchers for a team that ranked 5th nationally in batting average, and 7th in the country in runs scored. The Owls were also ranked nationally in the top 35 in eight offensive categories and led the Atlantic 10 conference in nine offensive stats.

As the Associate Head Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, Agnello helped the Ducks to the program's most wins (27), and it's first ever national ranking (14th) in the schools 101 year history. He led the offense while coaching the hitters, infielders, catchers, and outfielders. In four seasons he helped lead the Ducks to 78 wins, the most ever in a four year span.

Prior to Stevens, Agnello spent his first two seasons as an assistant coach at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, N.J. During his time with the Jersey Blues, the team compiled 76 wins while earning a trip to the Junior College World Series, and a final season ranking of 2nd in the country.

As a player, Agnello was a starting middle infielder for Brookdale from 2000-01. In his two years, Agnello led the Jersey Blues to a combined record of 62-25. Following his tenure at Brookdale, Agnello played at Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y. On the field, Agnello started 38 games at second base and 10 contests behind the plate as a junior before making the move to third base, where he started 46 games in his senior year.

A 2003 Wagner graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, Agnello played his high school baseball in the Shore Conference at Howell High School.
