Albuquerque, NM – The Reno Aces (34-27, 78-58) couldn’t respond to an ample Albuquerque Isotopes (32-29, 59-77) offensive attack in a 9-6 loss Friday night at Isotopes Park.
Reno had won four straight games heading into Friday, including the first three affairs of this monumental road series. The Aces played from behind for much of the evening despite plenty of scoring threats. Jorge Barrosa cracked his 10th homer of the year in the third before Tristin English reached on an error to score Jake McCarthy, briefly knotting the contest at two.

Albuquerque’s Daniel Montano hit a huge homer an inning later to put the Isotopes ahead by three. Reno fought to match Albuquerque’s output in the sixth, when Phillip Evans drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and Sergio Alcántara scored on a successful (or not) pickoff. The string of offense brought the Aces within one heading into the late innings.
McCarthy, Barrosa, Kyle Lewis, and Ali Sánchez each had multiple hits in the loss. McCarthy has nine knocks in the series while Lewis has eight, including four doubles. The BLC Nine will get a chance to improve on its 2-for-13 mark with runners in scoring position Saturday morning at 11:05 a.m PT from Isotopes Park.
Aces Notables:
- Jake McCarthy: 3-for-5, 2B, RBI
- Kyle Lewis: 3-for-5
- Jorge Barrosa: 2-for-4, HR, RBI
- Ali Sánchez: 2-for-5
