Albuquerque, NM – Tristin English mashed a clutch seventh inning homer in an 8-6 Reno Aces (35-28, 79-59) victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes (33-30, 60-78) Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park.
The Aces flashed their deep lineup in a rebound effort. Jake McCarthy smashed a solo homer in the third, continuing his elite run of dominance. English drove in a run on a groundout before Diego Castillo doubled to knock in the fourth run of the game. The BLC Nine held a 4-0 advantage into the middle innings.
Albuquerque struck back and knocked Reno’s starter Blake Walston out of the contest in the fifth. The Isotopes snatched a 6-4 lead before English’s heroic hack in the seventh. The slugging first baseman has had a breakout season between Double-A Amarillo and Reno, totaling 20 homers in 90 games. Jorge Barrosa added an insurance run with an RBI single in the eighth that expanded the lead to two. Phillip Evans (4-for-5) and Castillo (2-for-5) each posted multi-hit games.
