David Fletcher drove the first pitch of the 10th inning into center field to score Zach Humphreys and give the Salt Lake Bees (27-36) a 4-3 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (35-28) on Sunday afternoon. The win was the third walk-off win of the homestand for Salt Lake as the Bees took five of six from the Rainiers during the week.

Michael Stefanic provided the early offense for Salt Lake as he singled in the bottom of the first inning and came around to score on a Livan Soto sacrifice fly to give the Bees an early 1-0 advantage. In the third inning Stefanic deposited a 2-1 offering onto the left field berm for a solo home run, his fifth of the season. Then in the fifth Stefanic brought home Orlando Martinez on a sharply hit infield single. The 3-1 lead would hold for Salt Lake until the ninth inning when Luis Torrens tied things up with a two-run shot. The Rainiers were unable to score the designated runner in the 10th, but the Bees cashed in instantly as Fletcher’s single dropped in front of Taylor Trammel and Bees manager Keith Johnson sent Humphreys home for the win.

On the mound Carson Fulmer twirled a gem, giving up a single unearned run over six innings of work. Sunday afternoon’s outing was the third time in four starts that Fulmer did not allow a run dropping his season ERA to 4.34. Stefanic’s three-hit outing raised his average to .368 on the year, which leads the PCL and puts him ahead of John Barnes franchise record mark of .365 in 2000.

The Bees will take Monday off before heading on the final road trip of the season with a six-game set in Reno. Salt Lake will finish the 2023 campaign with six games at Smith’s Ballpark starting on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
