Indians Top Hapless Hops 7-2 in Series Opener

Spokane, Wash. - It was an unconventional night for Spokane's offense, but it got the job done. The Indians scored twice on walks, twice on hit-by-pitches, and once on a wild pitch in their 7-2 win over Hillsboro in front of 3,642 fans and 142 dogs at Avista Stadium for SCRAPS Bark in the Park Night.

TOP PERFORMERS

Evan Shawver (2-3) took over for starter Cullen Kafka in the third and delivered three scoreless innings of relief with five punchouts to pick up his second win of the season. Shawver was followed by right-hander Brayan Castillo, who tossed 2.1 shutout frames to keep Spokane firmly in control.

Braiden Ward continued his second-half surge with a pair of hits, a stolen base, and two runs scored.

Ben Sems and Juan Guerrero both had two hits while Ronaiker Palma had a pair of RBIs in the win.
