Moises Gomez collects two Player of the Month awards

The accolades keep coming for red-hot Springfield Cardinals OF Moises Gomez, who has won two prestigious Player of the Month awards for his incredible start to the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals named Gomez as their Minor League Player of the Month for April. St. Louis picks one position player and one pitcher within their entire farm system to honor each month.

Minor League Baseball also announced their April Player and Pitcher of the Month Award winners for each of the 11 leagues in Major League Baseball's player development system, naming Gomez the Texas League Player of the Month for April.

Gomez hit .429 in April with 27 hits in 63 at-bats. He lead the league with 22 runs, 66 total bases, 11 home runs, 25 RBIs, 6 doubles, 22 runs, with a slugging percentage of 1.048 and OPS 1.519 in 17 games. He was second in hits (27) and on-base percentage (.471). Gomez's 66 total bases were 22 more than anyone else in the league. He also added 11 multi-hit games throughout the month.

Gomez currently leads all of Minor League Baseball with 13 home runs, a 1.452 OPS, 1.000 slugging percentage, 26 runs and 76 total bases, while tying for the lead with 19 extra-base hits and ranking 2nd with a .408 average and 28 RBIs.

Gomez was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as a Minor League Free Agent on Nov. 5, 2021 after spending six seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays farm system. He was ranked among the Rays Top 30 prospects by Baseball America in 2019, 2020 and 2021, while also being rated by the publication as the "Best Power Hitter" among Tampa's prospects.
