The Wilmington Blue Rocks and Greensboro Grasshoppers found themselves locked in a pitchers duel Saturday night, with Brad Lord and Po-Yu Chen on the bump respectively.

After both starters held the opposition to just two hits through the first four innings, Brandon Boissiere would break the deadlock for the Blue Rocks in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to right field. It was his first home run since joining the Blue Rocks on July 18.

After a single from the very next batter, Murphy Stehly, and a sacrifice bunt from Caleb Farmer, Jordy Barley would drive in the Blue Rocks’ second run of the game on a line drive that just got past a diving Jase Bowen in centerfield. With the ball getting all the way to the warning track, Barley settled into third base for his second triple of the season.

Lord’s night would conclude after five shutout innings. He surrendered just two hits while striking out four Grasshoppers.

Chance Huff was tasked with keeping Greensboro at bay, and he delivered. Huff went two shutout innings, striking out two while surrendering four hits and one walk.

The Grasshoppers would not go quietly, as they tacked a run off an RBI single from Jase Bowen in the eighth inning.

Holden Powell would come in the ninth for the save, and provide the Blue Rocks with a 2-1 victory. The Blue Rocks will have a chance to even the series at three wins apiece on Sunday at 1:05pm
