Coming off the back of a 3-0 shutout, the Wilmington Blue Rocks struggled to find runs again on Thursday.

Blue Rocks starter Kyle Luckham was tagged for two home runs, one in the fourth from Christopher Familia and a three-run shot in the fifth off the bat of Agustin Ramirez.

Luckham appeared to never settle in on the mound, continuously scraping wet dirt off his cleats. His final line after five innings included four earned runs, three walks, and four strikeouts.

The Blue Rocks were able to get on the board in the sixth inning, as Carter Kieboom drilled a line drive out to center field. It was his first home run since being assigned to the Blue Rocks on rehab for an oblique strain suffered in late June.

The Renegades would tack on two more in the eighth inning when Grant Richardson took one out to right field, making it a 6-1 Hudson Valley lead.

Renegades starter Brock Selvidge’s night ended after 7.1 innings of one-run ball. He tallied five strikeouts.

Wilmington cut into the lead in the bottom half of the eighth on an RBI groundout from Daylen Lile. Unfortunately, they would be unable to claw back in the ninth and dropped the third game of the series 6-2.

The squads will be back in action on Friday.
